The 200th anniversary of George Boole`s birth

The 200th anniversary of George Boole`s birth Today is the 200th anniversary of George Boole`s birth (2 November 1815-8 December 1864). He was an English mathematician, educator, philosopher and logician. George Boole was the first mathematician who defined an algebraic system of logic in the 19th century. In honor of the  200th anniversary of George Booles birth, University College Cork decided to  join admirers of Boole around the world and celebrate  his contribution in mathematics. UCCs celebration includes  variety of  events throughout the day such as a  viewing of a  documentary film on The Genius of George Boole, academic conferences on his  legacy  and the birthday party in the heart of campus. George Boole is regarded as one of the founding fathers of computer science.  Boolean algebra is named after him, as is a Boolean datatype in many programming languages.
